Welcome to WCSPP, the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. WCSPP is Westchester County’s largest training program in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. We are a free standing psychoanalytic institute which has been training psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers since 1974.
With a network of over two hundred active graduates, we attract mental health professionals from neighboring Rockland County, Connecticut and New York City and from further points including Dutchess County, Orange County, Albany and Massachusetts.
Founded by a group of eminent psychoanalysts who shared a vision of a new model for psychoanalytic training, our institute pioneered providing candidates with a curriculum based on a principle of theoretical pluralism. We have maintained an unwavering commitment to that vision.
Our four year Psychoanalytic Training Program is rooted in the tri-partite tradition of course work, supervision, and personal analysis. In 1993, we expanded our institute to include a two year Psychotherapy Training Program, and, in 1999, we opened a two year Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Training Program.
Candidates in all programs are provided with low cost training patients through our Treatment Service. Whenever possible, patients are referred as well to the candidates for their private practices. WCSPP also offers a Supervisory Training Program for graduates of psychoanalytic programs who are interested in developing greater skills in psychoanalytic supervision.
WCSPP is deeply committed to the value of maintaining a strong academic community which supports the interests and pursuits of its members. Each class of candidates is an intimate group, which becomes the nucleus of a network of enduring professional and personal relationships. Ties to WCSPP continue long after graduation. Our Psychoanalytic Association and our Psychotherapy Association provide graduates with a variety of intellectual forums and social opportunities. Our graduates are well represented on our faculty as teachers and supervisors.
Please contact us with any questions you may have. We would be happy to meet with you to discuss the particular ways WCSPP can contribute to your professional development.
